The El Nido-Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area (or ENTMRPA) conserves 90,321 spectacular hectares of primary forest, coral reef, limestone islands and open water on the north-western tip of Palawan. As a “managed-resource protected area,” the ENTRMPA differs from a traditional wilderness-style national park in that it allows people to live within its boundaries as long as they do so sustainably. It seeks to promote both wildlife conservation and sustainable resource use, while prohibiting industrial-scale resource exploitation like commercial fishing and mining.
